Talent Orchard is seeking a Director, Product Line ManagementTalent Orchard LLC has been retained under contract by a mid:market distributor of outdoor lifestyle products to assist in the recruiting of a number of mission critical positions within the client's organization. Our support relationship for these roles is exclusive and we welcome the opportunity to assist individuals interested in joining this fast growing firm.The Director, Product Line Management is responsible for the commercial success of an assigned product line, providing cross:functional leadership and oversight of each product from inception/ideation through design, build, launch and growth/enhancement. The Director, Product Line Management is responsible for product line P and L budgeting and attaining corporate objectives, and is at the center of the company's product related end:to:end processes.The Director, Product Line Management is the internal SME of assigned products, and is the go to person for all issues that require expert level product knowledge of the assigned product/product line. The Director, Product Line Management is the cross:functional P and L lead for a product line business, and sits between Engineering, Integrated Marketing and Sales, working to get a product offering constructed, then into the marketplace and sold. A Director, Product Line Management is a subject matter expert (SME) for a specific product; as such, he or she often supports other marketing and sales resources to fill/augment their knowledge gaps.The Director, Product Line Management is a key player on a cross:functional team that is responsible for the company's revenue value stream, and is the front line manager for cross:functional product related issues.Key Roles Include:Lifecycle management. The Director, Product Line Management is responsible for the product lifecycle, validating concepts with buyers and customers and ensuring that products are built to spec, tested and delivered on time. The Director, Product Line Management monitors the product's adoption and use upon release, and determines what features/functionality would enhance future versions.Pricing, Programs and Margin. The Director, Product Line Management collects data and develops and maintains financial models to conduct assessments and analysis to set pricing strategies that direct Engineering and Sales. The Director is not only responsible for pricing analysis and decisions, but for continuously monitoring financial performance and making adjustments when necessary.Engineering Collaboration. The Director, Product Line Management develops consumer insight driven product requirements that are the input for engineering workflows to begin developing a new product. Through the development process the Director, Product Line Management works in a tight partnership with Engineering to iteratively develop and improve products by writing user stories to improve functional specifications, developing prototypes and mock:ups to validate concepts, conducting market testing and providing feedback, problem solving and providing necessary support. The Director, Product Line Management will also partner with engineering to develop proper use instructions, and create a feedback loop to be used to continuously improve each product.Sales Collaboration. The Director, Product Line Management spends a significant amount of time : especially after a new product launch : assisting sales with prospect calls and onsite visits, as well as provide guidance on account strategy and direction on what should be proposed to a particular prospect. The Director, Product Line Management also creates a feedback loop to measure and monitor impact and continuously improve sales enablement tools related to the products being managed.
