JOB SUMMARY
Performs all technical and non-technical duties in the Diagnostic Imaging Department including, but not limited to:producing quality images in the assigned area, obtaining patient histories and documenting pertinent clinical data, reception and transporting of patients, answering phones, assisting radiologists and other technologists in patient studies as needed, preparing room set-up,and moving and lifting patients.
EDUCATION
Must hold an active and current ARRT Registration.
TRAINING & EXPERIENCE
Experience requiredperforming routine radiographic procedures unassisted.
Previous hospital orclinic experience preferred.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Produces high quality radiographic images through appropriate positioning and technical factors.Adjusts protocols to meet patient needs when necessary.Critiques completed procedures for high diagnostic quality.Confers with the radiologist when necessary.
2. Follows department protocol in completion of all duties related to patient imaging, file room, front office and patient transport.
3.Communicates delays to patients.Explains procedures so that patients are comfortable.Obtains thorough and pertinent patient history and prepares patients for examination.
4.Utilizes departmental information systems such as PACs, OORS, and Meditech.Follows protocol as established in department operating instructions.
5. Completes all duties in scheduled time frames identified in job task lists. Follows priority guidelines in completing work. Assists othersduring downtime.
6.Consistently treats patients with dignity and respect.Observes patient and employee confidentiality as described by the privacy policies of Memorial Healthcare.
7.Transports and transfers patients in a safe manner. Utilizes proper restraints, side rails, and other associated measures when transporting patients. Signs patients in and out of nursing units before and after patient transport (hand-off communication).Provides for patient needs specific to patients age.Assesses for potential conflicts and reports any to the radiologist before proceeding with the exam.Intervenes appropriately in emergency situations.
8.Addresses physician and patient complaints and follows through to completion.
9.Practices a Customer First attitude (Patient Centered Care) at all times.
10.Treats coworkers and other Memorial employees with dignity and respect.Fosters and practices a teamwork philosophy.Manages others up at all times.
11.Demonstrates the ability to accept direction and feedback.
12.Consistently follows all patient safety standards.These include but are not limited to:Verifying correct patient identification, communicating appropriately during patient transfer between caregivers (handoff), utilizing Universal Precautions and sterile technique including appropriate hand washing, and adherence to established radiation safety practices.
13.Routinely performs routine QC, equipment safety checks (Room Check s, Reject analysis, Electrical checklists, etc.).
14.Identifies problems or issues and brings them to the attention of the appropriate individual.Assumes responsibility and confirms that the problem has been resolved.
15 .Maintains flexibility and deals appropriately with change.
16.Appropriately teaches/mentors students and others.
17.Attends all department meetings and/or reads minutes.Attends at least two Pulse Check meetings each year.
18.Completes all required yearly competencies including scheduled in-service, new procedure training, etc.
