Payroll Specialist Flint manufacturing company seeks a Payroll Specialist who will be responsible for processing weekly payroll for 300+ salary and hourly employees, including collection, entering and coordination of payroll data, typically using automated systems to produce accurate and timely payroll. Typical Duties: Prepare weekly US and Canada payroll and accounting journal entries, including reconciliations of payroll related GL accounts. Extract hours from electronic timekeeping system, review downloaded data, and reconcile data to reports provided by each location to ensure completeness and accuracy. Upload data into automated payroll system. Calculate and enter weekly payroll adjustments as necessary, obtaining required authorization when needed. Contact supervisors/managers when needed to review payroll changes and/or acquire missing payroll information. Track and enter all garnishments and other special payroll deductions. Compile records and analyze payroll transactions. Maintain time keeping system by updating employee assigned schedules, positions, pay categories, etc. Maintain payroll programs and produce payroll reports. Prepare yearend W-2s. Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearend reports using both the time keeping and payroll systems. Assist supervisors/managers as requested with payroll related issues. Organize, write, review, and update payroll procedures in a logical and methodical manner. Assist in maintaining personnel files. Work closely with HR Generalist to complete assigned projects. Monitor vacation and personal time accruals in the timekeeping and payroll systems, making sure the totals match. Enter into the timekeeping and payroll systems earned “Perfect Attendance" personal time hours, as reported by the Plant Managers each month Reconcile weekly invoices from temporary employment agencies. Reconcile monthly invoices from timekeeping system provider. R eview weekly change reports as provided by our third party benefits administrator and update employee voluntary deduction amounts as necessary to ensure proper premiums are being paid. Complete employee verification requests. Other duties as assigned. Payroll Specialist Minimum of 5 years relevant experience, including significant knowledge of and direct work with automated payroll processing software. Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field. Experience utilizing automated timekeeping systems – creating schedules, extracting and downloading data, generating reports, etc. Accounting knowledge with regards to payroll. Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and Word. Proven knowledge of payroll federal and state taxation laws, regulations and requirements. Strong work ethic and positive attitude. Solid organizational skills. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to meet daily, weekly, and monthly deadlines. Strong problem solving skills and attention to detail. International and multi-state payroll experience a plus. Ability to work individually and within a group. Payroll Specialist
